What does it
cost?
LM is a non-profit making registered charity and has the
Legal Services Commission franchise for family mediation. This means if you have a low income or are on benefits the service may be free. For details of public
funding, see below. If you do not qualify there is a fixed fee of £140 per person per session, which is considerably less than the legal
process. This fixed fee includes all administration costs incurred in the mediation process and the production of Interim Statements of Outcome and
the Memorandum of Understanding.
In addition, the initial individual meeting is free
of charge.
If you have any questions prior to your session, please call
us on 01522-575700.
Each session lasts for one and a half hours and payment is
made at the end of each session. All major credit cards are accepted.
Couples normally need between two and three 90 minute
sessions.
Are you eligible for Public Funding?
In the case of Family Mediation you will automatically
qualify on income grounds if you receive Income Support or Income-based Job Seekers allowance.
However, if you receive other income your gross income must
not exceed £2,350 per month (this figure increases if you have more than 4 children) and your disposable income must not exceed £649 per month.
Your capital must not exceed £8,000.
You will have to provide details of your income, expenses,
savings, etc. to help the Legal Services Commission decide how much you should pay.
